HISTORY
In Uganda, many smallholder farmers rely on coffee for their livelihoods but face challenges like poor productivity, low crop quality, and limited access to markets. In 2023, Kawacom Uganda Ltd partnered with USAID to implement the Uganda Smallholder Farmer Livelihoods Initiative, aiming to improve the livelihoods of coffee farmers. The project connected over 10,800 new farmers to export markets and assisted them in achieving Organic and Rainforest Alliance certifications. The initiative helped increase export volumes, boost income, and improve the quality of coffee, providing farmers with better market access and support for sustainable farming practices.
